Are You Ready for Tiny
Home Living?
The tiny home craze sweeping the nation and what’s not to love? Cute little houses and infinite possibilities on where to live sounds appealing to just about anyone. But before you go ahead and sell all your worldly possessions to fit in 400 square feet, you have to make sure that your lifestyle and the tiny house lifestyle are a good match. Think about a few of these things before you jump into tiny living.
Closet space
Are you someone that wears more or less the same outfits week in and week out? Or are you someone that loves to change up their look based on the events going on in your life? The reality is tiny homes have next to no closet space so you really have to be strategic about your wardrobe. Multiple pieces will have to serve multiple functions and if this sounds too daunting or impossible for you, tiny home living might not be a match. Assess how many accessories, shoes, and purses you have and it might make your decision a little easier.
Your Pets’ Lifestyle
Do you have pets in your current home? One thing about transitioning to a smaller space is that you have to take their needs into consideration. If you have a larger animal that requires the freedom to roam, putting them in a small space might not be conducive to their living. The simple fact may be that your pets and your new tiny dream home may not work out together. On a positive note, if your pet loves cozy spaces and places to hide, they may thrive in a space like a tiny home. It all just needs to be taken in consideration when designing your new tiny home life.
What Furniture?
If you live in a larger home that has lots of furniture, you’ll have to prepare that you can’t take any of it with you. If you are someone who likes things and objects, this is where you may hit a wall. Tiny homes are all about multi functioning spaces, and this includes couches beds and dining areas. If you are someone that loves having a dining room to entertain in, you might struggle inside of a smaller space.
Where to Park it
Where tiny home living goes south for many is they forget where their new home is going to live. When budgeting for tiny house, you need to be sure to think about the property that it is going to live on. Make sure you include this in your budgeting goals. Nothing is as embarrassing is getting a new home and having to park it in your parents’ backyard. Maybe you want to hit the open road and travel across the country with your tiny home, or maybe your goal is to just have a smaller space with fewer costs, but you need to be thinking about where your new home is going to live.
